I watch with quickened heartbeat
And the maddening of breath
In a world of crazed believers,
In a place too close to death.
Filled with foreign moments
Like a canopy of hate
Showered down and shattered quickly,
Leaving love to dissipate.
This division of my nature
Reaches boldly to new heights
With a torrent, a collision,
With a falling, all these nights
Go on climbing to the highest
Overwhelmed and torn like leafs
From the heart of every lover
And the souls of all that breathe.
Barren like a lake in winter
Certain indecisions grow,
Churning black with stale illusions
In the harshness of the flow.
Never tapered, always building,
Forcing, beating, taking down.
Any character or beauty
Turns to nauseating sound.
False demeanor seeks to conquer
All the truth that I’ve maintained,
Blotting poetry with sadness;
The words arrive already stained
With the bitterness of artists
And the weaknesses of man
Which together call out blindly
For someone to take their hand.
But the silence swallows pleadings
Like a storm consumes the day:
With a fury never questioned
And a passion never splayed.
